Maxwell Honey

Maxwell is a passionate indigenous medicine facilitator, integration coach, and teacher dedicated to assisting people in healing their traumas and uncovering their authentic selves. His own healing journey began when he was 20 years old, after surviving a near-fatal drug overdose, which resulted in a profound near-death experience, and led him to exploring Kambo Medicine and Ayahuasca to try and heal his body.

This event culminated in a rekindling of his passion for both psychedelic medicines and the healing arts, and also led him to forging a deep commitment to his meditation and martial arts practice, which he has sustained to this day.

Initially, Max’s passion for healing, martial arts, and plant medicine, led him onto the academic path, focusing primarily on Chinese studies and East Asian Philosophy as an undergraduate, with the goal of eventually becoming an herbal medicine doctor. However, after a series of increasingly intense encounters with Ayahuasca in his mid-20s, his focus eventually shifted, and he came to understand that his real purpose was to bring indigenous medicine and wisdom to the Western world, feeling that this work was (and is) of much more critical need in today’s time.

Then, in 2015, Maxwell had a life-altering journey with the African plant medicine Iboga, an initiation that radically transformed his philosophical worldview and further instantiated his commitment to honouring indigenous practices and knowledge. This experience further solidified his belief in the healing power of plant medicines, and eventually led him to apprentice with the Katukina in Acre, Brazil, where he continued to deepen his connection with Kambo, Ayahuasca and with the indigenous.  It was also during this time that he received their blessing to become a carrier of these sacred medicines.

Today, Max continues to focus on bridging ancient healing traditions with modern therapeutic approaches, focusing primarily on the development of integrative and trauma-informed models for personal and collective transformation using psychedelic medicines in conjunction with various mind-body practices. In addition to this work, Maxwell is also a longtime Breathwork instructor, TRE® (Tension & Trauma Release) provider, integration and wellness coach, and passionate writer/content creator.  He currently resides in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
