Stories That Heal

This is my first time experiencing plant medicine and it truly was the most profound, healing, liberating and also terrifying experience of my life. I kept an open mind and was trusting the process of what Ayahuasca had in store for me. I was a bit nervous at first but the facilitators and shamans made every minute there feel so safe and comforting in the beautiful retreat grounds. They are truly grounded people, the most caring and compassionate, especially during really rough times. Their music moved me so much beyond words as it healed what I was going through physically and mentally.

What also made the retreat and journey a lifetime experience are also the people I met and made friends with from all walks of life and parts of the world. The bond we had and the sharing circle truly made me realize how we are all connected. The entire retreat schedule was so well-thought out to make sure we made connections with ourselves, community and nature with a beautiful cacao ceremony and San Pedro outing. I was truly blown away.

After the retreat ended, I made sense of it all mostly and was truly excited about the integration work that I will be doing to adapt into my personal and professional life. I walked away from the retreat so enlightened with a better purpose for living and making peace with the past knowing that the work continues on. I’m super thankful for the calling to come to me at the right time of my life.

Working with Kay & Dao completely changed my life in ways I had struggled to do for years and years before their ceremonies. Kay’s voice, while powerful, is also incredibly reassuring and inspiring. Dao’s voice is light and ethereal. There are moments in ceremony that still stick with me over a year later just because of their singing.

In terms of results, I had my first retreat a year and a half ago. I had just relapsed after 6 months clean & sober through a 12 step program and someone/something put these guys in my path right when I needed it.

In the past, I could not get through a week without a serious binge or two on hard drugs & alcohol with chronic anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts etc.

Now, I rarely drink let alone take hard drugs. I also started my own business and began my first bachelor’s degree at 31 years of age.

I’ve also been able to visit Peru to work with Shipibo shamans and can confidently say that Kay & Dao’s ceremonies are authentic, healing experiences (arguably better for me because of the Thai-ness, the tenderness, the Metta).

These ceremonies have made me a better father, brother, son and friend but there’s always more work to do and people to serve so I’ll be back in ceremony with these two soon enough.

Every ceremony has been like taking a journey into rooms of my personality that I have never visited. Whether chanting, drinking medicine, or just interacting with others, I have never been more in tune with myself and the universe. Kay and Dao are amazing facilitators that offer feedback through each journey and a safe space to discuss and express the feelings we may be going through, often through reminding the people in the ceremony that they have the support of the whole group.

Kirtan gatherings have been an amazing outlet for expression through singing and dancing, which has brought a sense of community into the lives of my wife and I. Having this community flourishing and growing in Chiang Mai feels like the mountains stand taller and the wind blows cooler on the entire land.

I met Kay, Dao, and Koi a year and a half ago at a San Pedro ceremony. It was a time when I first realized how many unanswered questions I have in my life, so I decided to work with plant medicine. Since this time I have done many ceremonies with them like Ayahuasca, Mushrooms, Bufo, and San Pedro.

Every ceremony is highly prepared, so I don’t need to worry about the physical safety of my body, I can completely surrender to the process of my healing. I like that they do not mix subjective and objective experiences. The beautiful music in the ceremonies that Kay and Dao play makes the journeys even more magical.

My name is Yonel. I have done many plant medicine retreats in the US. While traveling in Southeast Asia, I felt the calling to do it again, and that’s when I came across Kay and decided to try the medicine in Chiang Mai. During the 5-day retreat, I experienced profound healing and understanding, body cleansing, and clarity in many aspects of my life. The retreat center is a super beautiful and peaceful place surrounded by nature.

In my opinion, the medicine was served with integrity and good intention, making me feel safe and making it easier to surrender and let it all go during the ceremonies. The quality of the music was outstanding. Kay is a great musician with an incredible healing voice.

It has been 6 months since that retreat. I have been through many changes and upgrades. I have made moves that were difficult for me or unimaginable. Fears have gone away, I feel more open and secure, closer to my family, and much more. Each ceremony peels away a layer that you don’t need to carry anymore, and over time you feel lighter and lighter and closer to your true essence.
