The venom secreted from the skin of the divine toad Incilius Alvarius, aka the “Bufo”, contains what many consider as the most powerful psychedelic known to man, O-methyl-bufotenin or 5-MeO-DMT, some even call it the “God molecule”. Since it’s the venom, quite obviously, it’s could be lethal when consume orally, but when it is vaporized and inhale, the effect could be profound. It isn’t known for the vivid visual experience like it’s cousin N,N DMT, but feeling of losing the body and become one with everything is its signature effect.
Unlike other medicines, the apparent length of time of the effect is much shorter, about 15-20 minutes, yet its reverberation could last a lifetime, because once one have “seen” it, there is no “unseeing”. In other words, once one know how it feels to be nothing (and hence, everything at the same time), which is the core teaching in many ancient knowledge, one know who we true are, and life would never be the same again. Hence, many regards the Bufo experience to be “once in a lifetime”.
The physical preparation for the Bufo ceremony is not complicated. It’s best to be done with an empty stomach and one should be ready to go back to their daily life within 1-2 hours. But the mental preparation could be challenging for some. After all, we are talking about facing the feeling of not having the body, which could very much feel like dying. If one choose to hold on to their body instead of letting it go, one would feel like they are fighting for their lives and having a difficult time or the “bad trip” with the experience that could linger long after the effect subsided. Hence, it’s vitally important to practice the mind to let go and be comfortable with whatever comes, even if it might feel like one is about to lose their lives. That way, the person will be able to let themselves “dissolve” in the “sea of bliss” (as many would describe it) and become one with everything by being nothing.
