What is Rapeh?
Rapeh (also known as Rap'é, Rapé, Hapé, or Hapey) is a sacred shamanic snuff made from dried and powdered Tobacco rustica, combined with a variety of medicinal plants, tree barks, seeds, and ashes from all over the Amazonian rainforest. For thousands of years, indigenous tribes across the Amazon have used this powerful medicine in ceremony to ground the spirit, cleanse the body, create energetic protection, and journey into expanded states of consciousness.
There are hundreds of distinct Rapeh blends, each crafted by different tribes and shamans with unique combinations of plants and intentions. Some blends are deeply grounding, perfect for meditation and centering. Others are used for physical cleansing, removing energetic blockages and stagnant energy. Some create powerful protection and boundaries, while others are highly psychoactive, guiding participants into profound spiritual exploration similar to Grandmother Vine or Sacred Toad.
Rapeh is administered through the nose, traditionally blown into each nostril by a facilitator using a Tepi (a sacred bone or wooden pipe), or self-administered using a Kuripe (a V-shaped self-applicator). The medicine works immediately, creating a powerful shift in consciousness that can range from subtle and centering to intensely transformative, depending on the blend and dose.
At Plant Medicine Thailand, we work with authentic, ethically sourced Rapeh from indigenous tribes, honoring the sacred lineage of this medicine. Our facilitators are trained in traditional application methods and create a safe, supportive space for participants to experience this ancient Amazonian wisdom with reverence and integration support.
