Frequently Asked Questions

Choosing to explore plant medicine is a meaningful step, and it's natural to arrive with questions. We've gathered the ones we hear most often below, take your time, read what speaks to you, and know that whatever isn't answered here, our team is always just a message away.

Your Questions, Gently Answered

From your very first curiosity to the days that follow your retreat, here is what you most want to know, shared with the same care we bring to every part of your journey.

1

Getting Started

Plant medicine refers to sacred plants and natural preparations that have been used by indigenous cultures for centuries to support healing, self-understanding, and spiritual connection. Held in a safe and intentional setting, they can help people gently explore emotional patterns, find clarity, and reconnect with themselves. It tends to resonate with those who feel called to deeper inner work and are open to a reflective, heart-centred experience. The most honest way to know if it's right for you is to speak with us, we're always glad to listen and help you sense whether this path aligns with what you're seeking.

Not at all. Many of the people who join us are arriving for the very first time, and our retreats are thoughtfully designed to welcome and support newcomers every step of the way. From your initial conversation through preparation, ceremony, and integration, you'll be guided with patience and care. Experience is never a requirement - an open heart and a willingness to be supported are all you need to begin.

Readiness often feels less like certainty and more like a quiet, persistent calling — a sense that it's time to look inward and grow. A little apprehension is completely natural and is rarely a reason to wait; in fact, it often sits right alongside genuine readiness. What matters most is that you feel drawn to the work and are willing to be supported through it. If you're unsure, reach out, a conversation with our team can help you feel into whether the timing is right for you.

Traditional therapy is usually a gradual, conversation-based process that unfolds over weeks or months, while a plant medicine retreat offers an immersive, experiential journey held within a dedicated container of time and space. Rather than working primarily through words, the medicine invites insight to arise directly through felt experience, supported by ceremony, nature, and community. The two are beautifully complementary — many people find that ongoing therapy both before and after a retreat deepens and sustains what they discover. We always encourage you to keep the support of any therapist or healthcare provider you already trust.

We do not share participant contact details for privacy reasons. Many people share their experiences openly on the Reddit thread “Plant Medicine Thailand,” which can be a helpful place to read about others’ journeys.

Thailand vs The Jungle

Jungle retreats in South America hold their own profound magic, and we honour that tradition deeply. Thailand simply offers a different kind of container, one where comfort, ease, and accessibility allow you to direct more of your energy toward the inner work itself. With gentle infrastructure, clean and comfortable accommodation, world-renowned Thai hospitality, and a calm, nurturing climate, many people find it far easier to relax, feel safe, and surrender. For those who want depth without the physical demands of remote jungle travel, Thailand is a beautifully supportive choice.

Authenticity lives in the lineage, the intention, and the integrity with which the medicine is prepared and held - not in geography alone. We work with traditional preparations and uphold the ceremonial practices passed down through the cultures that have stewarded this work for generations. The same reverence, ritual, and care that define an authentic ceremony anywhere in the world are at the heart of everything we do. What matters is that the tradition is honoured fully, and that is a commitment we hold without compromise.

Northern Thailand offers a rare balance of natural beauty and gentle accessibility. You're surrounded by lush mountains, forests, and serene landscapes, yet within easy reach of a modern international airport, quality healthcare, and reliable comforts. The climate is temperate and kind, the setting is peaceful, and the practical ease of arriving and settling in means you can soften into the experience more quickly. It's an environment that supports deep work while letting your nervous system feel genuinely safe and cared for.

Our facilitators carry both authentic ceremonial training within traditional lineages and a deep, ongoing commitment to safe, ethical practice. They have spent years learning directly from experienced teachers, and they continue to study, refine, and deepen their craft. Just as importantly, they hold space with warmth, humility, and genuine devotion to your wellbeing. You can learn more about the people who will guide you on our Facilitators page - we encourage you to read their stories and feel into the care they bring.

Safety & Medical

Safety is the foundation on which everything else rests, and we take it extraordinarily seriously. We work in small groups so that every participant receives close, attentive care, and our ceremonies are guided by experienced facilitators with support available around the clock. Every guest completes a thorough screening process beforehand so we can ensure the work is appropriate for them. While no profound experience is ever entirely without risk, our careful preparation, intimate group sizes, and constant presence are all designed to create the safest possible container for your journey.

Thai law does not specifically address Grandmother Vine. While certain naturally occurring compounds are regulated, trace amounts of similar compounds are found throughout the plant and animal kingdom, in many common foods, plants, and even within the human body, so their mere presence in nature isn't grounds for treating every source as illegal. The brew we use is a 100% plant-based herbal tea, consistent with Thailand's long, standing tradition of herbal medicine for healing purposes. We hold our ceremonies with full transparency and have engaged openly with relevant authorities about our practices. Our priority is always a safe, controlled, and respectful environment that causes no harm to participants or the wider community.

Safety is at the heart of everything we do. We maintain a calm, well-held environment with experienced facilitators present throughout the ceremony. Our focus is on creating a gentle and supportive container so participants can feel held and cared for.

Details about our lead facilitator, including their background and training, can be found on the Facilitators page of our website. For the privacy and protection of our team, we do not share the names or personal details of other facilitators.

We follow a consent-based approach to touch. No physical contact is offered without clear permission, and participants are always free to request a “no touch” boundary at any time. Women participants are supported by women facilitators when personal assistance is needed, while male participants may be supported by any member of the facilitation team.

Before any retreat, every guest completes a confidential health and medical questionnaire covering your physical health, mental and emotional history, and any medications or supplements you take. This helps us understand your unique situation and ensure that participation is safe and appropriate for you. Where helpful, we'll follow up with a personal conversation to talk things through with care and discretion. This process is never about exclusion, it's an act of care, designed to protect your wellbeing and help us support you fully.

Certain medications - particularly some antidepressants (such as SSRIs and MAOIs), and various other prescriptions, can interact with plant medicine and may not be safe to combine. Because every person's health is unique, we don't rely on general guidance alone; instead, we review your individual situation carefully during the screening process. Please never stop or change any prescribed medication on your own, as doing so can be harmful. Share your full medication list with us openly, and we'll work with you, and where needed your doctor, to determine the safest path forward.

Challenging moments are a natural and often deeply meaningful part of this work, they're frequently where the most profound healing lives. You are never alone in them. Our experienced facilitators remain present throughout every ceremony, offering grounding, reassurance, and skilled support whenever it's needed, whether through a steadying presence, gentle guidance, or simply sitting beside you. We hold the space so that you can move through difficulty safely, and we help you make sense of it afterward through integration. What feels hard in the moment often becomes the doorway to your greatest insight.

Some health conditions, including certain cardiovascular conditions, a personal or family history of particular psychiatric conditions, and pregnancy, may mean that this work isn't safe or appropriate at this time. Rather than apply blanket rules, we look at each person individually and with great care during the screening process. If a retreat isn't the right fit right now, we'll always tell you honestly and with compassion, and where we can, we'll point you toward other supportive options. Your safety and wellbeing will always come before everything else.

What to Expect

Our days are woven with a gentle, supportive rhythm that balances activity with rest. Mornings often begin softly with practices such as meditation, breathwork, yoga, or quiet time in nature, alongside nourishing meals. Ceremony days hold space for deep inner work, while the days around them are devoted to rest, reflection, sharing circles, and integration. Throughout, there is always room to simply be - to walk, journal, connect, or rest as your body and heart need.

The number of ceremonies varies depending on the specific retreat, its length, and the medicines involved, as each is thoughtfully designed to offer a complete and balanced arc of preparation, ceremony, and integration. We intentionally build in ample time between and after ceremonies so that nothing feels rushed and every experience can be properly honoured. For the exact structure of a particular retreat, the clearest path is to reach out to us, we'll happily walk you through what to expect.

We keep our groups small and intimate, with a maximum of 20 participants per ceremony. This allows us to offer attentive and personal support throughout the experience.

Ceremony length varies depending on the medicine, but most unfold over the course of several hours, typically held in the evening and into the night. We never watch the clock, each ceremony is given all the time it needs to complete naturally and gently. Afterward, there is space to rest, settle, and ease back into yourself before the following day's reflection. You'll always be guided on what to expect for the specific ceremonies in your retreat.

Every journey is deeply personal, and no two experiences are ever quite the same, which is part of the beauty and mystery of this work. People often describe vivid insight, waves of emotion, a felt sense of release, deep peace, or profound connection to themselves, to others, and to something greater. Some experiences are gentle and reflective, others more intense, and the medicine tends to offer what you most need rather than what you expect. We encourage you to arrive with openness rather than expectation, and to trust that you'll be supported through whatever arises.

It's completely natural to feel apprehensive about this, and please know that difficult moments, while they can feel intense, are held with great care. Our facilitators are present throughout the entire ceremony, attuned and ready to offer grounding, comfort, and gentle guidance the moment you need it. We'll help you breathe, soften, and remember that you are safe and supported. Time and again, what feels frightening in the moment reveals itself, with the right support, to be a turning point of release and profound healing.

Preparation & Diet

The dieta is a traditional preparation, a period of simple, clean living in the days and weeks before ceremony. It typically involves eating lighter, whole foods and gently letting go of things like alcohol, recreational substances, excessive caffeine, and other stimulants. Beyond physical safety, the dieta is a way of clearing space within yourself, signalling your readiness and respect for the work ahead. We'll provide you with clear, personalised guidance so you know exactly how to prepare with confidence and ease.

We generally recommend beginning your preparation a few weeks before your retreat, easing into the dietary guidelines gradually rather than all at once. This gentle runway gives your body and mind time to settle and helps you arrive feeling clear, grounded, and ready. Emotional and mental preparation matters just as much as the physical, setting intentions, reflecting, and slowing down. You'll receive a full preparation guide once your place is confirmed, and we're always here to answer questions along the way.

We ask that you abstain from alcohol and recreational substances in the period leading up to your retreat, as part of the dieta. This is partly a matter of safety, and partly about arriving clear and present, with a body and mind that are ready to receive the work fully. The specific timeframe will be outlined in your preparation guidance. We understand this can be an adjustment, and we'll support you warmly through it, many people find this gentle reset to be a meaningful part of the journey itself.

We recommend comfortable, loose-fitting clothing and warm layers for cooler evenings, along with any personal comfort items that help you feel at ease, perhaps a journal, a shawl or blanket, or a small meaningful object. Most practical essentials are provided, so you can pack lightly and simply. Once your place is confirmed, you'll receive a detailed packing list so nothing is left to guesswork. Above all, bring an open heart and a willingness to be present; that is the most important thing of all.

6

Integration & Aftercare

Integration is the gentle, ongoing process of weaving the insights and experiences from ceremony into your everyday life. It's where the real, lasting transformation takes shape - turning powerful moments into meaningful, sustainable change in how you live, relate, and care for yourself. Without it, even the most profound experience can fade like a beautiful dream. This is why we consider integration not an afterthought but an essential part of the whole journey, and we hold dedicated space for it both during and after your retreat.

Your journey doesn't end when you leave us, and neither does our support. Included with the cost of your retreat, we offer a two-week post-retreat Zoom call for integration guidance to help you process and embody your experience. Beyond this, the transition home is often where support matters most, and we're committed to walking alongside you through it. You can explore the details on our Integration page, and you're always welcome to reach out whenever you need a steadying hand.

The acute experience of ceremony lasts only hours, but the insights and shifts it brings can continue to unfold for weeks, months, or even years afterward. How deeply and how long they take root depends largely on integration — on how you tend to what you've received once you return home. Many people describe lasting changes in perspective, emotional patterns, and their relationship with themselves. With ongoing reflection and support, the seeds planted in ceremony can keep growing far beyond the retreat itself.

We're building a dedicated community space with tools and resources to support your ongoing journey. Connect with our medicine community, share your experiences, and find support when you need it most. Currently in development - coming soon..

Booking & Logistics

Applying begins with a simple, no-pressure enquiry through our website or by getting in touch directly. From there, we'll invite you into a warm conversation to learn about you, answer your questions, and complete the health screening together, so we can be sure a retreat is the right and safe fit. We see this as the beginning of a relationship, not a transaction, a chance to feel into whether the timing and the work align for you. Whenever you feel ready, reach out, and we'll guide you gently through every step.

Because we intentionally keep our groups small and intimate, places are limited and tend to fill ahead of time. We generally suggest reaching out as early as you can once you feel the call, both to secure your place and to allow yourself plenty of time to prepare properly. That said, we understand that sometimes the timing simply feels right in the moment, so it's always worth asking about availability. The best first step is to contact us, and we'll let you know what's open and help you find the right fit.

Our retreats are designed to be comprehensive, so you can arrive and simply be present without worrying about the details. This typically includes your accommodation, nourishing meals, all ceremonies and supportive practices, and the guidance and care of our facilitation team throughout your stay. Because offerings vary between retreats, the clearest picture comes from speaking with us directly about the specific experience you're considering. Reach out and we'll happily walk you through exactly what's included.

We offer comfortable, restful accommodation in a serene setting designed to help you feel safe, nurtured, and at ease throughout your journey. Depending on the retreat, options may range from shared to private rooms, so you can choose the level of privacy and comfort that feels right for you. A peaceful place to rest is an essential part of the healing container, and we've taken great care with every detail. You can see more on our Accommodations page, or simply ask us and we'll help you find your ideal space.

Yes, many people find it deeply meaningful to share this experience with someone they trust, and you're warmly welcome to attend together. Each of you will complete your own screening and have your own personal journey, while also being able to support one another through preparation and integration. It can be a beautiful way to deepen a relationship and walk the path side by side. Just let us know when you enquire, and we'll do our best to accommodate you both.

We don't provide airport transfers, but getting to the center is easy and accessible. Taxis and ride-share services such as Grab and Bolt are readily available and will get you to us safely and affordably.

Unfortunately, we're unable to accommodate extended stays at the retreat center as we have other retreats scheduled back-to-back. We kindly ask that you arrange alternative accommodation if you'd like to extend your time in the area. We're happy to help with local recommendations if needed.
